How Does Adsense Works?
Before we go ahead, I should clarify some specific terms that would be used again and again in this Post.
Publishers – Anyone can be a publisher, but you need to have a website, Publishers are Bloggers and website owners who create content, Google Allows them to show various ads.
Advertisers – Advertisers are individuals who pay an amount to Google for showing their business ads on Publisher’s website.
In Simple words, I would say Publishers are thousands of people who have a blog, and many website owners who create content and for money and advertisers are the business owners who want to sell or advertise their products or services using Publisher’s website.
How to Appy for Adsense
Well! It is easy to understand how Adsense works but you need to understand certain things before applying adsense. As I explained in the last para, Business owners need to pay some amount of money to Google for showing their product or services related ads.
A Publisher (Also Called Website Owners & Bloggers) has to apply for Google Adsense for Adsense Approval. If he/she gets Approval from Google, then they need to place some HTML code to their website, and after that, they will be able to show Ads on his website.
Whenever, your website visitors click on those ads, you will be paid for it. Google Adsense works for CPC (Cost-per-click) Basis and revenue sharing. Google Pays publishers from the money that Google is getting from the advertisers. Advertisers pay Google for each click. Publishers get 68% of a per-click of what advertisers pay them, and the rest 32% Google takes away as a Mediator Commission.
In another way, if an advertiser pays Rs. 50 to google for a click on Adsense ads by an online visitor, then google gives Rs. 34 to publisher and rest Rs.16 take as a commission.
Probably, it will clear now how Google Adsense works.
In Addition, Some Google Adsense Terminologies that you should Know:
1. CPC: CPC stands for Cost per Click the amount that advertisers spend per click on google ads when visitors click on those Google ads on publisher’s websites. It could be 5 Euro to 2 Dollars or even more.
2. CTR: It stands for Click Through Rate, this is calculated how many visitors click on those ads. If 100 people visit your website and only one person clicks on that, and then CTR is 1% if two people click on that, then 2%, and so on.
3. CPM: It stands for Cost Per Mile (1000 Impression) that means how much amount advertiser will spend on per 1000 impression. I would say publisher’s can earn revenue each time a CPM ad is served to your page and view by users.
4. Page Impression: A page impression is counted when someone views ads on the Publisher’s website. Let’s assume that, you are showing 6 AdSense ads on every page of your website; the 1-page view is equal to 6 ad impressions.

Best Practices of Google Adsense:
Researchers have estimated that nearly 70-80% of AdSense users lack some of the most common mistakes. I have uncovered all the best practices of Google Adsense while implementing HTML code on your website.
- Describe Your Website
Depending on what kind of content you are producing, Adsense might not be the best option for anyone. However, Adsense does not approve any controversial content on an adult website. Having G-rated content means that you’ll have access to a broader audience risk of anything lewd or age-inappropriate popping up on your page.
2. Adsense Ad limit
Earlier, Adsense had a maximum limit of 3 ad units (Premium Partners ad limit is up to 6 ad units)
In August 2016, Adsense removed the ad unit limit for every site.
- You Can place Adsense ads on your webpage as much as you can.
Note: You need to maintain the quality of your website.
(in would like to recommend 336280 and 300250 to be the most effective.
As i mentioned above, Google removed the limit restriction. However, your ads do not exceed your content, and there is no upper limit on the number of ads on a single page.
3. Adsense Ad Sizes
Adsense ad sizes are not essential, the ones that are the best for revenue and user experience.
However, they often have some of the most significant competition for advertisers to fill spaces.
If you want to drive up competition for ad space on your website, you should understand what type of Styles and size your site is comfortable with that.
336 x 280 large rectangle
300 x 250 medium rectangle
728 x 90 leaderboard
300 x 600 half-page
320 x 100 large mobile banner
4. Link your Analytics & Adsense Account
Link your Adsense account to Google Analytics accounts. It gives you access to Adsense to see metrics such as revenue, clicks, impressions, which you can analyze and make a decision.
You get a better idea of understanding how well your pages or content is monetizing.
Once you have linked your Adsense account to analytics, you can get insights from analytics to optimize and refine your Adsense ad units and improve your overall performance of your website.
